安全
A safe, easy-going resort city
Rebuilt as a modern resort city after a 1960 earthquake, Agadir is Morocco's beach capital: a long, gently curving bay of golden sand, wide promenades and reliable sunshine for much of the year. It is relaxed, easy and made for downtime.
While Agadir itself is more about sun, sea and comfort than historic monuments, it is also the doorway to the Souss valley, the argan forests, the surf breaks of Taghazout and the wild landscapes of the Anti-Atlas and Paradise Valley just inland.
Sun, sea & surf
Agadir's appeal is straightforward and dependable: a huge sheltered bay, warm sea, and one of the sunniest climates in Morocco. Just up the coast, Taghazout has become a laid-back surf capital, with breaks for every level and a growing scene of surf-and-yoga retreats.
Beyond the beach
Inland lies a different Morocco: the argan forests where oil is pressed by women's cooperatives, the lush oasis of Paradise Valley for swimming in rock pools, and the fortified villages and painted valleys of the Anti-Atlas. Agadir works best as a comfortable base from which to explore this softer, greener south.
When to go
Agadir is a year-round destination thanks to its mild, sunny climate. Spring and autumn are ideal for combining beach time with active days inland; summer is warm and busy; winter is pleasantly mild and a popular escape from European cold.
