The Best Time to Visit Morocco, Month by Month
Morocco packs deserts, mountains, coastline and imperial cities into one country, so the “best” time to visit depends on where you are going and what you want to do. As a rule, spring and autumn are the sweet spots, but every season has its rewards.
Spring (March–May): the classic choice
Arguably the finest window. Days are warm, evenings cool, gardens are in bloom and the desert is comfortable before the summer heat. Ideal for combining Marrakech, the Atlas and the Sahara in one trip.
Autumn (September–November): the other sweet spot
Summer heat fades, the light turns golden, and the country feels relaxed after the peak. Excellent for cities, desert nights and the coast, with pleasant temperatures almost everywhere.
Summer (June–August): coast and mountains
Inland cities and the Sahara are very hot, best enjoyed slowly, with a pool and early starts. The Atlantic coast (Essaouira, Agadir) stays breezy and pleasant, and the High Atlas offers cool mountain air, making these the summer choices.
Winter (December–February): clear days, snowy peaks
Mild, clear days in the cities and desert, cold nights, and snow on the Atlas, a beautiful, quieter time to visit, and perfect if you want to pair Marrakech with skiing at Oukaïmeden or a crisp night in the dunes.
